Missing
December, 2017
“He’s gone?!” I shout, my voice reverberates around the kitchen. Finn sits like a majestic egyptian sphinx, head up and tail perfectly curled at his paws.
“Quite.” He says.
“Where?!”
“More like when. He’s not anywhere in the branch. I’ve checked all locations. I found his belongings in the library next to the displayed books of the Stonehenge Origin archives.”
I narrow my eyes at Finn with concern. “Are you saying he just up and left without telling anyone?! I mean I heard he was a jumper and all and left without a word but within the first hour of arriving?!! Not to mention it's been over a week!”
“Precisely. I don’t know what caused him to leave so suddenly, but perhaps he had business to take care of. Like I said earlier, I will not be a babysitter.” Finn was beginning to wear on my nerves.
“Well that's all fine and dandy but in a few days Emrys will arrive and we’re going to be the only ones here to greet him. That's going to get awkward, don’t you think?”
“Not really. You are the one in charge of his training anyway and to be frank, Andrei would have had to wait around a bit to start his training with the youth anyway.”
“Not true. We could have shared the time. And I’m sure having a male mentor around would be good for him, considering.”
“But we can’t call him back. What's done is done. Can we eat dinner now?”
I look at the table where our meals are set. “I can’t. I mean…” I pause. I’m hungry but I need to know where he went. He can’t just skip off like this! I need notice. I need to know! “Ok, fine. After dinner though I’m looking into when he might be.”
“Ok. While you do that, I think I might read that tome on the Mayan bat god Camazotz.
